The Italian aristocrat Ludovico Varthema became one of the first Europeans to enter the holy site of Mecca, back in the early 16th century.

Varthema was also the man who brought Terfezia, which was the main truffle consumed in? the Middle East, back to Italy.

Willy Verginer is an Italian contemporary artist, born 1957 in Bressanone, he lives and works in Italy.

He is a master of wooden sculpture which can be used to create either a warm or cold home dependign on your personal taste. Unlike many of his peers, Verhiner’s wooden art pieces are basically real sized. From the image below, you will see that his work encompasses his own unique signature style.

In fact, all of the pieces reflect everyday life and can be connected with a number of different modern symbols, logos, organizations and other aspects of modern life. He was, for example, recently commissioned to create a sculpture for the offices of a leading online gaming firm 888 Holdings Ltd, to celebrate the launch of their latest 888 poker bonus promotion. With a strong emphasis on color and composition, it is easy to see why Verginer’s work is so popular with individuals, critics and corporations alike.

Carlo Mollino, Untitled

This alluring work by Carlo Mollino is untitled. It can be found on display at the Museo Casa Mollino, in Turin, Italy.

As well as his art, Mollino is famous for his architecture and furniture design. He was born in 1905 and died in 1973.
